Heidi Grunberg was recently hired.

Meet Heidi Grunberg, NAMI New Mexico’s new Executive Director. Heidi is a transplant to New Mexico from Ipswich, United Kingdom. A Graduate of the University of East Anglia and Goethe University Frankfurt, holding degrees in Architecture, Commercial Interior Design, Business Management and Marketing. Heidi’s career has spanned both the corporate and nonprofit worlds, in Europe and the USA, most recently with the Cesar Chavez Foundation in Los Angeles. Heidi first became involved with NAMI, after her brother Dirksen had a Traumatic Brain Injury, and PTSD. With her brother, Heidi utilized the NAMI Drop-In Center, and brought him to weekly Groups. Heidi volunteered at the NAMI office next door to the Drop-In Center. Heidi’s brother ended his long battle with Depression, PTSD and a TBI, as did Heidi’s Grandmother Margret (In Scotland). Now Heidi finds herself combining her career with her deep passion to further awareness and acceptance of mental illness. When not heading up NAMI for the state of New Mexico, Heidi can be found walking her two Great Pyrenees Dogs, Inga and Axul, along the edges of the beautiful Rio Grande, and creating and tending her bee and butterfly friendly gardens at her home in Albuquerque’s North Valley.
