Senator Pete Domenici, who recently passed away, was a life-long advocate for people living with mental illness and their families. Mental illness impacted the Domenici family directly and as a result, the family were huge advocates and, in fact, Mrs Domenici (Nancy) was an adviser to the board of NAMI National for many years. Not long ago, Nancy Domenici, while visiting Albuquerque, actually sat in on one of NAMI Albuquerque’s Family to Family classes.
On Saturday, Sept 16th 2017 there was a memorial held at Isotopes Ball Field at which one of Sen Domenici’s Daughters spoke. Several NAMI volunteers assisted with seating and handing out water and Crackerjacks, etc. Also, our very own Dr Kathy Finch, President of NAMI Albuquerque, was invited to speak. Here is a brief video clip of Ms Domenici and Dr Finch’s remarks.
